We are
more than happy to help with owner assisted remodeling. Not
everyone can afford the project they dream of but if you have a few
renovation skills and can call in favors from friends or relatives then
you might be able to save a bundle. In fact, we designed and
built most of our website ourselves to keep our overhead down, so we
certainly can't chastise homeowners for wanting to complete some things
themselves. Now, due to workers compensation
laws and OSHA laws it is simply illegal for us to work alongside of you
during the course of a project. However, you can tackle whichever
line item you wish on your own time. The only down side is that
schedules don't always work out. Since you're probably going to
paint/tile/demo during your spare time it usually takes a lot longer
than it would take us so we are unable to guarantee schedules on owner
assisted remodeling. But if you're handy then read on and see how
you can save money.
Forrester's
Bathroom Project forgive the ad since this is a DIY channel
video
Recently we had the
privilege to showcase two of our master
bathroom remodels on the DIY channel's "Ten Grand In
Your
Hand". Unfortunately you don't see our pretty faces because
the
show is geared towards getting DIY'ers motiivated. The premise of the show is to help
the homeowner save
10 Grand
by doing several things
themselves and shopping
for deals on fixtures
(typically our allowance items such as tile, toilets,
faucets, etc). We
had a lot of fun working with the show and the customers The
homeowners and the show producers
were so happy that one of the show's
producers hired us next..
We were
more than happy to help the Forresters complete their bathroom
project and save money in the
process. They ended up on a DIY
channel show called "Ten Grand
in Your Hand".
The show seeks
to provide exactly what I just talked about, saving
you money by having
you
complete some of
the work yourselves.
Holtzmans's
Bathroom Project forgive the
ad since this is a DIY channel video
The
second show was for the Holtzmans in Northern
Kentucky.
Amy
Holtzman actually works with the production team that produces these
shows and after she saw the work we did for the Forresters she decided
to hire us
for her project.
The Holtzman's went with a modern looking glass tile shower with
multiple showerheads. They did tweak the design a little
themselves and it wasn't our preferred design but after all, it's their
home. PLEASE
NOTE: We don't
normally
mention our customers full names on our website to respect their
privacy but since the customers on this page are on a
nationally syndicated cable show we figured it was okay.
So,
You've made the decision to do some of the work yourselves
Long
before the cable TV
diy craze we have worked in tandem with homeowners that wish to
complete certain tasks themselves. This can really save you a
lot of
money on big projects. Even if you aren't that great at home
improvement, there are little things you can do to save money if you
wish. Consider doing the demolition work, or maybe just
cleaning up
after demo. Painting is always a big moneysaver and most
homeowners
have a little experience at that. If you really want your
project and
just can't afford it PLEASE
ask us to show you ways you can save money.
Maybe you've started a project and got in over your head. Don't
be afraid to contact us! We're more than happy to help you get it
finished and promise not to pick on your work or talk down to you.
You just have to ask us and we'll help you save money on your next
renovation as long as you're willing to sweat a little.
The
typical items customers select to complete themselves are:
- Demolition (or maybe just the cleanup and hauling)
- acquiring your allowance items (cabinets, tile, etc)
- Painting
- Landscaping
