We have worked with the same vendors for several years so we know exactly what to expect from them and they also know what to expect from us so why pay the additional markup for us to order your products when we have confidence that our vendors will take good care of you.. We don't require you to use any of these vendors (you can order everything off the internet for all we care). However, our vendors are extremely knowledgable about what they sell and spend a lot of time educating you on the differences between one product and another so we highly recommend that you use them. They provide exactly what they say they will provide and WHEN they say they will provide it. Our cabinet/countertop vendor has NEVER missed a delivery or install date in the 10 years we've been working with them.
It is extremely important that you speak with the contacts we've provided below in order to get the best possible service from each of these vendors.
We
can't say
enough good things about Countertops and Cabinetry by
Design. They provide 90% of our customers' cabinetry
and
countertops of any style (granite, quartz, solid surface, laminates).
Our favorite cabinetry is Kraftmaid because they have tons of
options that provide you with a custom look without the custom price.
However, they also have other cabinetry options as well.
They are used to working with us and fully integrated with
our design process. So, once we complete your design we send
you off to meet with Mike Vanselow at their West Chester showroom.
He will take our design and refine it to work with your exact
cabinet needs and help you make all the selections that work best with
your goals for the project. They can even provide sinks,
faucets and tile so we highly recommend that they are your first stop
before anyone else on our list.They do all of their own countertop fabrication which provides a highly reliable turnaround!

Ferguson provides us with
most of our plumbing supplies and
they have an incredible showroom that sells everything for kitchen and
bathrooms, from cabinets to tops to plumbing fixtures and appliances.
They really are a one-stop shop for kitchen and bath. We
have mostly
used them just for plumbing fixtures since this was their original
purpose. Sarah Muri has taken wonderful care of our customers
now for about five years now. She is extremely knowledgable,
friendly and as with our other vendors, delivers what she promises.You may pay a little more for your plumbing fixtures at Ferguson. Why? They will make sure that the faucet you have chosen works with the sink you have chose. They will check all the little details to ensure that each fixture you are purchasing fits your needs and fits with your other selections.
If you are simply updating a basement or hall bath we suggest Home Depot, Lowes or Keidel Plumbing supply.

The Tile shop
is sort of the Home Depot of tile. They have a HUGE showroom in
Sharonville with fantastic displays of bathrooms and kitchens to really
show you how your tile selections will work with your particular
project. They have a huge selection and very reasonable prices (after our discount so make sure to ask for it). If they say your tile will be in next Thursday then it will be in their store next Thursday. We've never had a problem with their timeliness. The only drawback we have seen is that the sales reps either aren't highly knowledgable about the product or they simply do so much volume that they don't care. That said, we still put them at the top of our list because of their immense showroom and reliable delivery system.
I don't currently have a contact at the Tile Shop but I'm hoping someone there is on their toes and will soon correct this. Make sure you tell the sales rep you are working with Houston Construction/Remodeling and want the discount. We get a Gold discount of 25% and this is passed along to you. If they don't then CALL US or just show them our website.

Mees Tile in Northside
has been around forever and most people have heard of them.
While we prefer the Tile Shop for most of our tile needs Mees has a
better selection of more exotic (expensive tiles). If you
schedule an appointment then their sales
staff is also more knowledgable and will take a little more time to
explain the difference in different types of tile.The reason they are not at the top of my tile list is simply because they will not offer us a discount. They seem to be a very old school company that prefers working with the contractors that have been around for 80 years (20 years apparently is not enough). We really like Mees and I believe they are selling better quality tile but again they have to offer us and our customers a discount if I am going to drive customers to them.
One other note about Mees and any other tile store. Make sure that the tile display you are looking at is GROUTED. Be sure to select the grout that closely matches that grout. You'd be amazed at how much the physical look of a tile can change when its grouted so it should be grouted in the displays.
